Newsletter March 2019

After all the windy weather we hope the Spring sunshine will now stay and we can spend more time outdoors in our garden.  We will be looking at new life and there will be some Easter activities and fun.  Blueberries have a family board where they have photos of the children and their families.  We will be celebrating St Georges day .

Thank you to the parents who attended our Parent’s Open Evening, it’s great to meet and have important chats about your child’s progress.

As Claire will be leaving soon to take maternity leave we are happy that we have 3 new members of the Berry Hill Team.  A warm welcome to Mary Payne and Mikaela Jackson, who are both experienced level 3 childcare practitioners.  We are excited to get to know Mary as a staff member and to see our friend Mikaela return to Berry Hill.  We also welcome Emma Riglin our new Apprentice.  We will make sure the handover of key children is a smooth transition, with continuity of care.

Transition

The children who will be going to Broadlea Primary School have already started their transition visits to the Forest School with the Reception class.  They have really enjoyed themselves getting to know the routine and meeting Mrs Nelson-Graeme and Mr McCarty.  They sat by the fire and cooked and ate popcorn.  We find that these visits help children to settle and have a smooth transition in September.

Change of Opening Times

From Tuesday 23rd April our opening times will change to 8am to 3.15pm, closing 15 minutes earlier.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused.  We can take children of 3 years plus to the school after-school club at Broadlea – Scallywags Fun Club.

Any questions please speak to Julie or Laura.

Newsletter October 2018

Welcome

Welcome to all our new Children and their families and welcome back to our returning Children and their families. We hope you all had a very good summer.

Changes

Karen Ball has decided to leave Berry Hill, her last day will be Friday 12th October, we thank her for all she has done at Berry Hill and wish her well for the future.

Emma Taylor has joined the Strawberries room, which has been a huge help for those children who have transitioned to Strawberries. This has meant that some initial Keyperson conversations took place with a different Keyperson but the knowledge of those Children has been passed to the new Keyperson. We are sorry for any confusion caused.

Current Learning

This term we will concentrate on settling all the Children at Berry Hill, ensuring they feel happy and confident in their new surroundings, building relationships with their Keyperson and their peers.

Shoe Box Appeal

Berry Hill are proud to support the Rotary organisation in this appeal. On Friday 5th October a representative came and talked to our children at the setting. A list of items suitable to be put in the shoebox with age appropriate ideas will come home to you. The boxes then need to be wrapped in Christmas paper and delivered to disadvantaged Children in Albania, Montenegro, Moldova and Romania by the Rotary Organisation. Last year our generous families and staff made 107 boxes. No pressure for this year.

Photographer

Our Photographer is coming to take the children’s photographs on Wednesday 31st October. A list to make appointments will be in the office on the 15th October.
